Filled with a plethora of Korean cuisine, from sotbap to gimbap and even Korean “cai fan”, Suntec City is a haven for Korean food enthusiasts. Recently, another Korean eatery’s hoarding has been spotted there, and it’s none other than the popular Um Yong Baek.
Is Um Yong Baek’s Famous Korean Pork Soup Still Worth The Hype?
The restaurant officially announced the opening of their Suntec outlet via an Instagram story on 30 September. They’re set to open this month, but the exact date remains unconfirmed.

Even after four years since making their debut at Boon Tat Street and opening their second outlet at Telok Ayer, the well-known brand is still going strong. Today, their delicious Busan-style pork rice and soup, AKA dwaeji gukbap, and aged pork K-BBQ draw long lines from locals and Koreans alike.

Having tried their food before, I must say it deserves the hype. The biggest draw is their generous portions and flavour-maxxed, comforting soups, boiled for at least eight hours with no unnecessary additives included.
We’ve heard through the grapevine that they’re introducing a new addition to their menu, this time dabbling in beef: the UYB Gomtang ($27++), featuring a rich and milky beef bone broth topped with lean beef slices.

The new outlet will also carry the same beloved dishes the brand is known for, with the signature UYB Clear Daejigukbab ($22++) starring a clear broth and various cuts of pork over short-grain rice, including the collar, cheek, and stomach. The Japanese tonkotsu-like UYB Thick Daejigukbap ($22++) is also available for those who prefer a thicker broth.
