Hailing from rural Hunan, this traditional dish is often prepared for banquets. Additionally, the preserved mustard greens help to balance out the pork while adding a delightful crunch.

2. Tea Oil Stir-Fried Kampung Chicken ($23.90)

Evoking a taste of home cooking, the Tea Oil Stir-Fried Kampung Chicken originates from the Hengyang region. pairing perfectly with a bowl of rice, the tea oil adds a herbaceous fragrance to it. A simple yet delicious dish.

3. Stir-Fried Hunan Bok Choy with Crispy Pork Lard ($13.90)

For some greens, the Stir-fried Hunan Bok Choy with Crispy Pork Lard features bok choy from Hengyang which is known as the king of ingredients in Hunan. Only available for 60 days a year, this crunchy vegetable has a naturally sweet flavour and is stir-fried with crispy pork lard for a sinful, yet delicious dish.

Nong Geng Ji’s Signature Dishes Also Available

1. Stir-fried Pork with Abalone and Chilli ($27.90)

This dish is Nong Geng Ji’s answer to the Hunan Stir-fried Pork, elevating it with plump baby abalones as well. Launched in June 2022, it has since become their best-seller, with more than 700,000 dishes served. Using a generous amount of Hunan green peppers gives the dish a mildly spicy kick, with succulent pork leg and chillis tossed in as well. Served in a wok with a burner, it helps keep the dish warm throughout your meal.

2. Stir-fried Beef with Fried Chilli ($28.90)

Served with an extra large pair of chopsticks, the fragrance of this dish comes from the specially imported Hunan Dried Peppers. These fresh chillis are dehydrated, helping to intensify their flavour. They are then stir-fried over high heat with tender sliced beef and topped with spring onion. Well received in Beijing, this dish isn’t too spicy which makes it palatable for most.

3. Signature Grass Fish Fillet with Chilli ($25.90)

The most unique dish out of the three, the Signature Grass Fish Fillet with Chilli isn’t like your usual fish, but interestingly has a chewy texture, similar to pork belly. A whole fish is filleted and then cooked slowly with pickled chilli sauce, which is considered essential in Hunan cuisine. This trademarked dish is also available in a non-spicy version, suitable for kids.
