Affordable food in Singapore is getting harder to find, but Yu Xia Ge at Serangoon Road is offering bowls of prawn noodles for just $1.80! This spot is gaining attention for serving up comforting bowls of traditional prawn noodles at a price point that is incredibly rare today.

One might think that Prawn Noodles for $1.80 might be a gimmick, with small portions or measly ingredients. That doesn’t seem to be the case here, as each bowl comes with two large, whole prawns and a generous helping of prawn broth!

As with most prawn noodle offerings, you can choose from multiple types of noodles to go with your dish: Egg Noodles, Rice Noodles, Kway Teow, and Bee Hoon.

Choose to have your prawn noodles in soup, or my personal favourite: dry with a bowl of broth on the side. We’ve heard that the broth here is no slouch—comforting and satisfying with an umami, savoury depth and a hint of sweetness.

Besides their affordable prawn noodles, Yu Xia Ge also has a few other dishes to pique your appetite, such as their signature Claypot Laksa ($11.80). This bowl is filled with fragrant laksa broth and chock-full of clams and prawns!
The $1.80 promotion was started as a way for the restaurant to give back to the community and will last for as long as they can support it. As of now, there is no end date to the promotion yet.
