When you enter Xiao Xiang Zi, you’ll be greeted by interiors that are rather striking. Its walls are lined with retro wallpapers and neon signs that bear Chinese characters. More importantly, you’ll notice the several chillers that display the lok lok you can get here.

Skewers available at Xiao Xiang Zi include Pork and Enoki Mushroom, Tiger Prawn, Chinese Seafood Tofu, Smoked Duck, Coin Pork Meat, and Pandan Chicken, all of which have the same price. It’s not wildly different from what you’re going to get at other lok lok places in JB, but you’re likely to be satisfied with the options available.

During our visit to this eatery, we found the Pandan Chicken to be our favourite skewer. Wrapped in aromatic pandan leaves, the chicken meat here was juicy and fatty, with that nice charred flavour to top it all off.

We also noted how the spicy seasoning used on these skewers was really addictive. They had a mild spicy kick and savoury taste that happened to go well with the Tsingtao Beer (RM19/~S$5.40) we ordered.
