Listen up, Din Tai Fung fans: the legendary Steamed Tom Yum Xiao Long Bao is back! Available from now till 30 April 2024, Din Tai Fung outlets across the country are once again graced by this spicy spin on everyone’s favourite dim sum.

Priced at $10.90++ for four pieces, each xiao long bao holds a whole shrimp within its juicy minced pork filling. Said filling is marinated with aromatic Thai herbs and spices such as chilli, Thai kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and lemongrass. This creates a broth that bears the unmistakable aroma and flavour of tom yum.

This also marks the return of three “premium dishes”, namely the Steamed Cod Fillet with Superior Soy Sauce ($36.90++), Deep-fried Handmade Tofu with Lotus Roots & Mushrooms ($12.50++), and the Cantonese Sweet & Sour Pork ($21.90++). These dishes aren’t available at all Din Tai Fung outlets, so do visit their website to find out where you can order them.

Din Tai Fung is also launching a new limited-edition bun for Easter: the Cocoa Wafer Bun (price TBD).

While the franchise tells us that this is a new dish, it bears a resemblance to the KITKAT Bao they released last year. If it shares more than just appearances, then this bao should be a delight to have.
