More than 20 years in the making, Circle Line Stage 6 opened on 12 July 2026, adding three new stations–Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road–to Singapore’s MRT network. 1. The Better Half

Cosy and inviting, The Better Half is a hole-in-the-wall cafe tucked away in Everton Park, now just a 13-minute walk from Cantonment MRT Station.

The cafe is best known for its lineup of freshly baked cakes. While the classic Chocolate ($6.50) and Black Sesame ($8.50) are popular picks, we recommend venturing beyond the usual; the Vanilla Salted Caramel ($6.50) is a standout, featuring sweet-salty buttercream and a crunchy malt crumble that adds plenty of texture. Our personal favourites include the fragrant Earl Grey Lavender ($6.50), with its delicate floral notes, and the Honey Kinako ($8.80), finished with a matcha glaze that adds an earthy depth to the nutty kinako flavours.

Despite its name, South Side Keppel is actually closer to Cantonment MRT Station than Keppel MRT Station—the cafe is just a five-minute walk from the former.

If you’re a rosti fan, get the signature Switz Rosti ($14++): a crispy shredded russet potato pancake served with sour cream and a lemon wedge, alongside your choice of one out of six available toppings. Here, you’ll find fun and experimental matcha- and hojicha-based drinks, made with powders sourced directly from Japanese tea farms.

Current bestsellers include the Strawberry Royal Milk Pudding ($9) and Black Sesame ($8.50), both available in matcha or hojicha versions. The former is essentially a strawberry matcha latte with a twist, coming with a slurpable house-made milk pudding at the bottom, while the latter combines black sesame syrup and paste with a special nutty nougatine that stays crispy till the very last sip. It’s best to try one of the specialty drinks, especially on your first visit, namely the Signature Cold Brew ($7) with a choice of tonic water or coconut milk, the Blue Latte ($8) infused with butterfly pea, and the Oh-OAT ($7) for a creamy, nutty mouthfeel. Besides the usual matcha and hojicha lattes, the unique Cinnamon Oolong ($6) caught our attention—perfect if you’re partial to spiced tea drinks.
