Cafe Monochrome is a 2D cafe in Jalan Besar with brunch and waffles
The cafe and coffee scene in Singapore is bustling, but if you want a more unique experience, head over to Cafe Monochrome. The Jalan Besar cafe is said to be Singapore’s first 2D concept cafe, with hand-drawn designs dotted throughout its space!

The black and white sketches are the main highlight here; each corner is an Instagrammable spot, thanks to the unique monochrome interiors.

The designs are meant to look like flat 2D illustrations—even the chairs are painted to reflect that vision!

Those visiting for brunch can look forward to the Creamy Chicken Toast ($20++): sourdough toast with silky scrambled eggs and fried chicken, topped with a creamy mushroom sauce.
Besides all-day brunch items, you can also get hearty pasta dishes including Truffle Cream Pasta ($21++) and Soft Shell Crab Pasta ($22++), a riff on the famous chilli crab.

Those with a sweet tooth will also be pleased with the desserts on offer, including the Waffle Ice Cream, which comes in three flavours: Classic, Oreo, and Speculoos. It’s priced from $11++ for a Classic Waffle with a single scoop of ice cream.
On top of the cakes on display, you can also consider getting the Monochrome’s High Tea Set ($48++) for a fancier option.
