Pink Ice Cream Cafe in Kallang has coffee and desserts

Pink Ice Cream Cafe is a new spot in Kallang that reminded me of the movie Barbie as soon as I set foot in the cafe. True to the dessert cafe’s name, the interior is adorned with pastel pink, from the chairs and counter to the wall and even the menu.

The cafe not only sells all kinds of trendy desserts but also has something that deviates from the usual offerings: a durian creme brulee that’s served in an actual durian shell.

For the Durian Creme Brulee ($13.80++), they use D24 durians, which are known to have one of the creamiest and sweetest flesh. The whipped durian flesh is topped with sugar and torched just like a creme brulee, giving it a crispy caramelised exterior that contrasts well with the velvety smooth flesh.

If that isn’t sweet enough, the dessert comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and gula melaka syrup to savour. Pairing the creamy durian flesh, crispy caramel layer, and milky ice cream will surely send all durian enthusiasts straight to heaven.

Although the specialty durian dessert takes the spotlight, worry not if durians are not your jam as there are other desserts you can try. Pick from Sliced Cakes ($8.80++ per slice), Waffles ($3++) paired with Ice Cream ($5++), Caramel Honey Toast with Ice Cream ($9.80++), Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches ($8++) and more.

Out of all the sliced cakes, the Carrot Cake ($8.80++) comes highly recommended. This consists of a moist, spiced carrot sponge layered with sweet cream cheese. The cake is also incredibly adorable, decorated with a dollop of sugar icing that resembles a carrot.

After finding out that their ice cream is made in-house, we had to give it a go! They have a total of 16 ice cream flavours, including Earl Grey, Pistachio, and Caramel Biscoff. Else, opt for old-school flavours, with the likes of Bubble Gum and Chocolate Mint. Do note that you have to pay an additional $1 for premium flavours such as Apple Crumble and Biscottino.

We recommend pairing your ice cream with a waffle, cookie sandwich, thick toast, or housemade ice cream cones for the best experience. During our visit, we tried two of the most popular flavours: Blue Sky and Pistachio. We really enjoyed these with their waffles, which, in our opinion, is the best way to enjoy ice cream.

Quench your thirst with their Specialty Sodas ($5.50++ each) which come in three flavours: Sakura Honey Calamansi, Groovy Grape, and Passion Lychee. These refreshing and fruity drinks come in especially handy if you are trying to beat the afternoon heat! If this does not strike your fancy, they also have a selection of coffees and teas such as the Americano ($3.50++) and Camomile ($3++)

Pink Ice Cream Cafe only has outdoor seats, but fret not as the space is windy and well-ventilated thanks to the ceiling fans. For easy access, the cafe is a four-minute walk from Kallang MRT station.
