A Slow Cup is a hidden cafe at Robertson Walk Shopping Centre
You wouldn’t expect a cafe to be inside a nail salon, but the subject of this article is one such case. At Robertson Walk Shopping Centre, you’ll find A Slow Cup, a newish cafe that’s nestled within Painted Nail Bar.
A Slow Cup mainly focuses on coffee-based drinks, but they also have a selection of teas and non-caffeinated beverages as well. They also have a rotating pastry menu, with offerings including Sourdough Walnut Banana Cake ($6), Lemon Olive Oil Cake ($7), and a savoury Smoked Sausage Quiche ($7.20), to name a few.
We tried their Iced Mocha ($6.50), Iced Chai Latte ($6), and their Hazelnut Praline Cookie ($8), a seasonal item.
While we thought the drinks weren’t much to shout about, my dining partner and I enjoyed the cookie. It was thick and chewy, consisting of several whole hazelnuts as well as a hazelnut and salted caramel spread.
I appreciated the contrast of textures: the chewy cookie, crunchy hazelnuts, and the slightly grainy texture of the spread created a unique mouthfeel. The cookie was also not too sweet, allowing us to finish this without feeling too jelak.
Since this cafe shares its space with Painted Nail Bar, patrons can also engage in nail services by professionals while enjoying a cup of their favourite beverage and pastry.
A Slow Cup radiates a cosy and inviting atmosphere thanks to its warm interiors and terracotta-coloured ceilings. The cafe also has relaxing music, perfect for customers to unwind while enjoying a cup of coffee and unique bakes with family and friends, amidst the hubbub of offices nearby.
