Uptown Nasi Lemak opens new outlet at City Gate

Following their successful opening in Telok Ayer, Uptown Nasi Lemak has returned with a piece of good news: they recently opened their second outlet at City Gate, a mall along Beach Road with an ample selection of food options.
Get their signature dish Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng Berempah ($8.70), which features a hearty combination of coconut rice, spiced chicken, sambal, Nyonya achar, hard boiled egg, and of course, fried peanuts and anchovies. If you prefer drumstick or thigh to a whole chicken leg, you can opt for that instead for the price of $6.80.
A runner-up is the Nasi Lemak with Rendang Beef ($9.30). Evidently, beef rendang takes centre stage here, which is said to be slow-cooked in coconut milk and a variety of spices. Similar to their signature dish, you can expect sambal, hard boiled egg, Nyonya achar, fried peanuts, and anchovies, too.
Their Nasi Lemak with Sambal Sotong ($7.60) is also touted as a must-try during your visit here. When we visited their Telok Ayer outlet, we found the squid to be a good balance of sweet and spicy, which is ideal for those who can’t handle spice very well. Also, this dish will surely be your cup of tea if you prefer softer, more tender squid to chewier ones.
Besides their famous ayam goreng, beef rendang, and sambal sotong, you can give their sambal fish and petai prawn a shot if you’re more adventurous with your food choices.
