New York’s famous Van Leeuwen ice cream is coming to Singapore

If you’ve ever been to Brooklyn or New York, then you’ll know that Van Leeuwen is quite the household name. The brand is famous for their ice cream selection, which they prepare the French way: with double the egg yolks, so it’s extra creamy. If you’ve wanted to get your hands on their ice cream on home turf, then rejoice, as they’ve just announced that they’ll be opening their first overseas outlet in Singapore. The outlet will be located at Orchard Central and is slated for an early August opening.

Van Leeuwen Singapore is being introduced by the same folks who brought in Mr Holmes Bakehouse and Luke’s Lobster.

They first began as an ice cream truck in 2008, and have since grown to 50 outlets across the United States.

Aside from the French-style recipe, Van Leeuwen takes tradition a step further by ensuring that their ice creams are all made with only natural ingredients sourced from small producers and artisans, and without any artificial stabilizers, thickeners or emulsifiers. What results are scoops with a luscious and luxurious mouthfeel.

Van Leeuwen Singapore is coming in clutch with a whole selection of their popular flavours, including Sicilian Pistachio, Earl Grey Tea, and Mint Chip. They’re also bringing some of their true blue American flavours on board, including Honeycomb, Marion Berry Cheesecake, and Praline Butter Cake. Some of these flavours are vegan too, great for plant-based diners or those who aren’t their best around dairy.

They also sell ice cream sandwiches.

You can see their ethos of working with small producers reflected across their flavours. The Sicilian Pistachio option, for example, is made with pistachios sourced specifically from Mount Etna in Italy. The tea in their Earl Grey Tea flavour is hand-harvested from Yunnan.

We’ll update this post as soon as we have the official opening date. In the meantime, the brand has announced an opening promo, where the first 100 customers in the queue will be given a custom tote bag. All customers behind the first 100 will be given a token to spin at a gashapon machine, which gives you the chance to score merch or free scoops.
