3. Kucina Italian Restaurant

There’s nothing fancier than a nice Italian dinner at a vibey restaurant, so book yourself a meal at Kucina Restaurant to break fast this Ramadan. Headed by Chef Gero, Kucina’s mission is to champion the flavours the chef grew up with in his Sicilian hometown. There are not many Halal-certified restaurants in Singapore that can offer an authentic taste of Italian cuisine, which makes this restaurant extra worth adding to your list!
Kickstart your meal with their range of antipasti AKA appetisers—a great way to whet your appetite for what’s to come. If you’re dining with your family or a group of friends, order the Kucina Antipasto ($26.90++) to share. The platter comes with bocconcini—small balls of fresh mozzarella—mixed with pesto and sundried tomato, bruschetta topped with caramelised onion and ricotta, eggplant baked with tomato, as well as slices of fresh mozzarella, and cold cuts.
Then, dive into their pasta, which they make fresh from scratch! A new addition to the menu is the Mafalda Ragu Di Manzo ($26.90++) which sees fresh mafalda pasta coated in beef and tomato ragu. Lastly, no Italian meal is complete without an order of pizza to share among the table. If there’s one you must go for, it has to be their signature La Barca Pizza ($27.90++). The decadent boat-shaped pie comes filled with rich cream and mushrooms, truffle pate, and a blend of mozzarella and smoked scamorza cheese.

4. SUKIYA
A restaurant that needs no introduction is SUKIYA. For the uninitiated, they are a fast-casual restaurant serving up cheap and tasty donburi rice bowls. As one of the most popular Japanese chains in the world, it is no surprise that they have over 20 outlets across the island, including one in KINEX.
They are primarily known for being value-for-money, which comes in handy when you’re craving a hearty Japanese meal without the steep price point. For starters, their medium-sized Gyudon is priced at just $4.90, which for the price, is extremely substantial! Each bowl consists of rice dressed with thinly-cut slices of beef and caramelised onions cooked in a savoury sauce.
If that doesn’t do the trick, try the medium-sized Teriyaki and Salmon Beef Bowl ($14.90), which comes with two types of protein at a still-affordable price point. You get melt-in-your-mouth salmon slices coated in a savoury-sweet teriyaki sauce, alongside tender beef. Wash it all down with their Matcha Latte ($4.50), a delightful earthy and sweet concoction.

5. Mukshidonna
You can’t go wrong with Korean food. And, when you’re craving rice cakes and army stew, Muskhidonna at KINEX knows how to satisfy, as these two dishes make up the restaurant’s signatures. Their piping-hot Budae Jigae (from $13.90++) AKA Army Stew comes brimming with rice cakes, fishcakes, sausages, beef, mussels, and noodles, drowned in a spicy-sweet stew garnished with heaps of mozzarella cheese! If that isn’t enough for you, top the stew off with Kimari, Dumplings, Odeng and more for $3 each.
The meal doesn’t end once you’ve slurped up all the stew. Cook a portion of Fried Rice ($5++) in the remnants of the army stew for maximum shiokness. The rice crisps up nicely at the bottom of the stew’s hotpot, adding a welcome textural contrast to an otherwise soupy meal.
We love how fast the service at Mushkidonna is too. Named after the Korean saying which means, “quickly eat your food, pay, and leave”, the restaurant lives up to the reputation with speedy service. Our food arrived within minutes of ordering.
So if you’re craving something fiery and carb-heavy this Ramadan season, you know where to head!

For mouthwatering Thai-Chinese cuisine, Magic Wok Family Restaurant is probably your best bet. The humble eatery has been around for close to 30 years, serving up a large variety of comforting Muslim-friendly zi char dishes. Plus, this restaurant is a great option for large gatherings during this Hari Raya period as every dish is relatively easy on the wallet!
Start with the Prawn Cake ($9.80+ for four), a moreish seafood snack to whet the appetite, followed by the Pandan Leaf Chicken ($9.80+ for four), a fried chicken dish elevated by the subtle fragrance of pandan. That’s not all: don’t forget to save some stomach space for the must-order at every Thai restaurant, Thai-Style Steamed Fish with Garlic ($22.80+).
This dish makes for a great centerpiece at the table, starring the most tender fish dressed in a spicy, tangy, and sweet sauce! Other classics you can expect on the menu include Salted Egg Chicken ($9.80+), Sweet and Sour Fish ($22.80+), and Prawn Omelette ($7.80+).

7. Kebab #1
If you want to tuck into something a little more clean this Ramadan season, pay a visit to Kebab #1! Dig into a Turkish feast of freshly-baked bread, earthy spreads, and smoky meat accompanied by fresh veggies.
Start with their range of Mezes ($7) AKA appetizers. Each plate is smeared with a generous portion of dips, Turkish bread, tomato salad, pickles, and olives. Choose from three variations of dips: the nutty Hummus made of chickpeas, the tangy Muhammara redolent of roasted red peppers, and the creamy avocado-based Guacamole.
Then, go for their signature chicken kebab, which you can get in an Ekmek ($10), Durum ($9), Salad ($11) or Pilaf ($11). Ekmek sees the meat encased in Turkish bread, while Durum swaps out the bread for a wrap. Otherwise, there’s also the salad version, which comes with leafy veggies and pickles, or the pilaf AKA Turkish butter rice. Besides these options, Kebab #1 also has an equally delicious plant-based falafel which can be served in a Durum ($8) wrap or as a Salad ($11).
You can also enjoy the eatery’s IFTAR #1 special: spend at least $50 to get 20% off on all items throughout the month of Ramadan!

8. Yang’s Epok Epok
As its name suggests, Yang’s Epok Epok is known for their curry puff pastries. Priced at just $1 each, there are two fillings you can pick from: Potato and Sardine. The earthy potato filling is laced with fragrant spices, while the sardine is spicy, with an umami depth.
This KINEX eatery also has a variety of other Malay-Indo and fusion dishes, including the likes of nasi lemak, mee rebus, mee soto, and lontong. The owner recommends the USA Fried Rice ($8.50) and Fried Kway Teow with Cockles ($8).
In case you’re unfamiliar with the former, the ‘USA’ in the dish’s name has less to do with its origin and more to do with the components: ‘udang’ AKA prawn, ‘sotong’ AKA squid, and ‘ayam’ AKA chicken! This protein medley is fried with rice and a sweet tomato sauce that elevates the simple dish. The Fried Kway Teow with Cockles ($8) is a good ol’ hawker classic, featuring smoky wok-fried kway teow topped with briny cockles. The next time you’re looking for teatime treats to share with your loved ones, consider Yang’s Epok Epok.
