If you’re a fan of Curry Chee Cheong Fun, this is just the spot to head to. Introducing Ipoh Curry Mee, a stall at Yishun that serves up a scrumptious Curry Chee Cheong Fun. What’s unique about them is that they serve their Chee Cheong Fun with roasted meat, unlike some of the others serving the same dish. Definitely a must-try!

Tucked away at an industrial canteen at Yishun lies Ipoh Curry Mee. For those that don’t stay in the North, the stall isn’t really accessible and is about a 15 to 20 minutes bus ride from Yishun MRT Station. Don’t worry, it’s definitely worth the travel for this unique and scrumptious dish.

This stall usually draws crowds from the neighbouring area during lunch hour. The Ipoh-style Chee Chee Cheong traditionally comes in both the dry and wet versions and isn’t filled with ingredients like the Cantonese style.

The Ipoh Curry Chee Cheong Fun with Char Siew and Roast Pork ($6) comes highly recommended as it gives you the best of both worlds. The Chee Cheong Fun is silky, and thin, and breaks apart easily. It absorbs the curry gravy well, giving each bite an explosion of flavour.

The curry is thick and creamier than usual and lies more on the sweet side. For spice lovers, unfortunately, the curry is lacking the spicy kick that many of you would crave for. However, this still doesn’t disparage how good the curry is.

The dish comes with added toppings of fresh green beans, fried tau pok, and pig skin. The pig skin is a nice touch as it adds a nice chewy texture and soaks up all that curry goodness. The char siew has chunks of meat and has a good ratio of fat to lean meat.

It also has charred ends which give a good contrast of smokiness to the sweet-savoury taste of the pork. The roast pork is your typical average roasted meat however, the saltiness of the meat goes well with the housemade sweet chilli.
