Nomad Bakehouse has fresh pastries and coffee in Bukit Merah
Forget cafe-hopping, I’m all for bakery hunting these days thanks to many new openings—there’s the popular Korean brand Bakery 1946 at Suntec City, and Hazukido bakery at Ngee Ann City with its Japan-style croissants. If you, like me, love bread in any form, here’s another one to check out this weekend: Nomad Bakehouse, a Muslim-owned bakery in Bukit Merah.

The variety of bakes change depending on what’s available for the day, but their display usually sees more than 15 types of breads each time. Starting with their wide range of viennoiseries, there are the classics, Kouign Amann ($5.90) and Pain Au Chocolat ($5.50), along with lesser-seen flavours, including the Lemon Curd Meringue Croissant ($6.90) and Pastel De Nata ($6.90), AKA egg tart croissant.

The bakery also offers more substantial options, with the Nomad’s Signature Wild Mushroom Quiche ($6.90) and Egg Mayonnaise Croissant ($8.90) being popular picks among regulars.

The Kaya Custard Feuilletine (price TBD) is a new addition to the menu that’s been garnering much love from patrons; you get a flaky, crispy pastry generously topped with a velvety smooth swirl of kaya custard!

You can pair these bakes with a cup of drink as their beverage menu is pretty extensive, with more than 10 options to choose from. If your bakes are on the sweeter side, I recommend getting a cup of Americano ($4.50) or Earl Grey ($4.50) to counteract the sugar. Else, go for the popular Matcha Latte ($6) or Piccolo Latte ($4.50).
