Previously occupied by popular homegrown brand Alchemist, NOWAFTER Cafe is a new Korean-inspired cafe that opened at Design Orchard on 8 August 2023. It has only been two days since their grand opening, but we hear their Korean-themed desserts have been selling like hotcakes already.

NOWAFTER Cafe is said to be helmed by an owner who had previously run a cafe in Korea, which explains the Korean-inspired desserts offered here. The most notable one is their Charkey Bun ($13++), which features a charcoal bun packed with mozzarella, truffle sour cream, and garlic herb butter.

If you’re well-versed with the cafe scene in Korea, NOWAFTER Cafe’s Charkey Bun might look familiar. At first blush, it resembles famous Korean artisanal dessert brand NUDAKE’s Peak Cake. Over in Korea, the signature pastry features a black layered crust brimming with cream in the centre.

Back at NOWAFTER, another must-try is their Matcha Basque Cheesecake ($10++), which comes with a dollop of mascarpone vanilla cream on top.

It’s said that only the early birds will catch their Blackmisu ($13++), which features a tiramisu made with dark cocoa. By the looks of their desserts, it seems like NOWAFTER Cafe is serious about upholding their monochrome theme.

The cafe boasts a spacious seating area with industrial, monochrome interiors, so you don’t have to worry about waiting in line for an unreasonable amount of time. Do note that the cafe has an ongoing opening promotion, where you get 10% off all beverages in the month of August!
