Do you know that there are different types of laksa in the world? Most of them fall between these three types of laksa – curry (coconut cream-based), assam (tamarind-based), or a combination of both of them together. If you love the former one, you will need to check out this stall in Yishun. It is no secret that this nameless stall has one of the best laksa in Singapore!

As this stall has no name, it commonly goes by the location of the stall, Yishun 928. On Instagram, the location tag is fondly known as ‘Yishun 928 – The Very Nice Laksa Stall’. Despite being nameless, this laksa stall is one of the most popular places for laksa with long queues, even during non-peak hours. Not only the bowls of steaming hot laksa are amazing, but the people who are operating are very nice as well.
Yishun 928 is famous for its aromatic coconut-based broth. Prepared in a giant pot, the colour of the curry is certainly appealing, with dark orange hues with dots of red from the oil. The fragrance of coconut cream is somewhat strong, but not overpowering enough that you won’t be able to taste other components of the laksa. All in all, it is sweet and comforting.
The spiciness comes from the dash of sambal chilli on the side. Make sure to mix it all together before taking your first slurp. Fascinatingly, you can choose different types of noodles, thick rice vermicelli is always the best option for laksa. Although it is affordably priced at $3.30, it comes with a generous amount of toppings. Namely cockles, fishcakes, hard-boiled eggs, and beansprouts!
