Run by Mr Kong Yiu Man and his wife, Chan Pik Yung, the stall was a popular go-to spot for Chee Cheong Fun and Congee. Hailing from Hong Kong, Mr Kong was previously a chef in China and London before moving to Singapore. Despite opening in January 2022, they achieved Michelin Bib Gourmand status six months later.

According to Shin Min Daily News who interviewed them, Mr Kong stated the reason for the stall’s closure was due to health reasons. As the stall was only operated by Mr Kong and his wife, they decided to shut it down to ensure he could rest and recuperate.

The owner of the coffee shop has also clarified that the stall’s closure is not due to a rent increase as it was only $2500 per month.

Wishing Mr Kong and Mdm Chan good health and a well-deserved rest.
