Lagnaa is a famous Indian restaurant in Little India

Lagnaa Barefoot Dining has been a fixture on the Singapore Michelin Bib Gourmand list since the guide’s local inception. And, for good reason too—located in the vibrant heart of Little India, the restaurant offers a wallet-friendly menu that takes the diner through the six key flavours of Indian cuisine, expressed through delicious sharing platters and ala carte dishes.

Another thing that Lagnaa has made its name on is their Chilli Challenge, a curry challenge that draws spice daredevils.

The legendary Chilli Challenge (from $33) is an opportunity to test your spice tolerance and push your taste buds to the limit. However, be forewarned—this challenge is not for the faint of heart, given that no one, to date, has made it to the final level.

There are currently seven levels of spice available, starting with Level 3 ($33), and going all the way up to Level 10 ($88). Diners have to eat a full portion of a dish at that spice level to be able to pass. Make it through level six, and you’ll get an exclusive invite to Lagnaa’s Full Moon Party.

As it stands, level seven seems the most doable, with 160 daring folks making it past. The drop-off is real at levels eight and nine, with only nine and two contenders making it through those levels, respectively. Those unsure of their spice tolerance can try the Curry Shots ($25), with a small portion of the various spice levels.

If pushing yourself to the limit isn’t your idea of a good night out, don’t sweat it. Lagnaa is, as mentioned, also known for their regular menu, which you can enjoy on the second floor of the restaurant, dining barefoot on floor seating.

Their MICHELIN Set Meals start at $52 for two, and includes Flexatarian and Vegetarian options. The Flexatarian Bogi ($85), for example, feeds two and comes with a selection of different curried dishes, including Butter Chicken, Yellow Dhal, Alook Palak and more. Sets also come with one saffron rice, one basmati rice, and two plain naans. You also get to choose add-ons, from flavoured naans to other types of rice.
