INDOCAFÉ: Michelin Bib Gourmand Peranakan Restaurant
Despite being close to the bustling Orchard Road, INDOCAFÉ aims to provide an environment filled with nostalgia. The restaurant is located in a charming colonial house surrounded by lush greenery, making it a suitable dining destination for all occasions.
One of the most difficult cuisines to perfect, Peranakan food involves chefs preparing the dishes for hours to perfect the flavours. INDOCAFÉ serves up dishes that have been meticulously perfected by Chef Heng Eng Ho. With over 20 years of experience, the Penang-born chef continues to create and harmonise unique flavours, preserving the Peranakan culture by keeping the flame alive, one dish at a time.
A Homage to Peranakan Culture
INDOCAFÉ’s interior celebrates the vibrant heritage of Peranakan culture. The walls spot framed artworks of Peranakan influences like the Kebaya and feature a series of Blackwood Furniture. The Peranakan Embroidery stands as a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship and artistic flair of the Peranakan community.
The satin stitch, where stitches of varying lengths are densely sewn onto the base, is a recurring feature in the Peranakan textile arts. Each embroidered piece tells a story of skill, tradition, and the rich tapestry of Peranakan artistry.
