I frequent Chinatown for legit Chinese fare, but my purpose for visiting the area has recently changed with more cafes sprouting up, including Spring Coffee, Durian Haus, and Bullock Cart Coffee. Adding to this list is a new bakery selling fresh muffins at wallet-friendly prices: Pretty Good Muffins.

Given their cosy, compact kiosk, it can be easy to miss the bakery if you’re unfamiliar with the area. But their display of more than 10 muffin flavours will instantly catch your eye if you’re passing by. The cheapest of the lot are the Cranberry ($1.40) and Almond ($1.40) muffins, while the priciest one is the Matcha at $2 each.

Baked fresh every day, their buttery and spongy muffins are touted to be a delicious and affordable sweet treat that’s perfect to have on the go. Flavours here range from the fruity Blueberry ($1.50) and Banana Walnut ($1.90), to the chocolatey Mars ($1.50) and Seasalt Nutella ($1.80).

Muffins are not all they offer; you can indulge in a cup of their Matcha Latte ($4.80), available in both hot and cold. Though not the cheapest beverage option out there, their matcha latte is priced at a fraction of what most cafes offer these days, so try and see if it’s to your liking!

There’s also Cold Brew Tea ($1), Chocolate ($2.50), and Yuzu Honey ($2.50) that make for great quenchers to beat the heat.

You can find Pretty Good Muffinsat Hong Lim Complex, located right outside Chinatown MRT Station
