Best croissants and pastries in Singapore
Picture this: it’s the weekend and you’re sinking your teeth into a warm, flaky croissant, paired with a freshly brewed latte from your favourite cafe. It can’t get any better than this! Quintessentially French, the buttery pastry has made its way to our shores and become one of the hottest trends in the foodie scene━for good reason. Today we’re blessed with an amazing array of options, from the classic French butter croissant to localised flavours and modern variations. Visit one of these 15 cafes and bakeries for some of the best croissants in Singapore!
1. Tiong Bahru Bakery
Possibly one of the first purveyors of French croissants in Singapore, Tiong Bahru Bakery has become a household name since opening in 2012. There are multiple outlets across the island, and the croissants here are handmade only with the best ingredients━French flour and French butter━for a rich flavour and impeccable texture.
The plain Croissant ($4.20) is flavoursome enough, but if you want something more special, try the Green Tea Croissant ($6.50), which comprises an indulgent matcha almond filling.
Other must-tries are the signature Kouign Amann ($5.90), a crisp, butter-laden pastry glazed with caramelised sugar, and the Pain Au Chocolat ($4.50), which uses dark chocolate from France.

2. Petit Pain
This Joo Chiat gem has made a name for itself in the East-side foodie scene. FYI: Petit Pain recently reopened their doors at a new location after a short period of closure in 2024.
Although the revamped menu and prices have not started floating around yet, you can probably expect their famed Classic Croissant (price TBD), which uses carefully sourced French fermented butter for a unique tang and aroma. Other flaky pastry options from their previous joint include the Pain Au Chocolat (price TBD) and Apple Danish (price TBD).

10. Woodlands Sourdough
Possibly one of the most well-known bakeries in the Central area is Woodlands Sourdough, and this is not a bold claim considering that all of their bakes often sell out within the first two hours of opening! As the bakery’s name suggests, their bakes are made from sourdough.
One of their signature items is their Sourdough Butter Croissant ($4) said to be crispy, buttery, and flaky, with an added subtle tang from the sourdough. They also switch it up with a variety of other interesting croissant flavours from time to time, such as the Peanut Butter & Jelly Sourdough Croissant ($6) and the Everything Sourdough Croissant with Cream Cheese and Herb Oil ($5.50).

11. Micro Bakery Kitchen
Micro Bakery Kitchen first started out as a humble bakery shop in Serene Centre, but the brand has now expanded to two more outlets at Katong and Tiong Bahru. The bakery specialises in freshly-baked bread, sourdough and pastries that pair wonderfully with their range of coffees.
Other than a good old croissant, there’s also a one-of-a-kind Pretzel Croissant (price TBD) which mimics the shape of a twisted pretzel. The multiple folds give the pastry an additional layer of crunch, and is raved about as a harmonious combination of sweet and salty. They also offer a rotational selection of bakes depending on the season such as the Pastrami Cheese Croissant (price TBD) available during Christmas time!

12. Hazukido
Offering something different from your usual French croissant, Taiwanese chain Hazukido specialises in Japanese-style croissants. If you’re wondering what sets this seemingly regular croissant-looking pastry apart from their French counterpart, they use a special type of Japanese flour and bake in small batches in adherence with Japanese cooking principles!
Some of our top picks from our visit to their outlet at Takashimaya Orchard include the Premium Durian Custard ($7.80), and Taro & Pudding ($6.50). The former is made with fragrant and creamy D24 durian flesh, while the latter consists of sweet taro swirls with a slither of pudding atop.

13. La Levain
La Levain is a croissant house armed with innovative croissant creations—smashed croissants and cruffins, onigiri croissants that went viral in Korea, and the lovechild of cookies and croissants: crookies. In fact, they have a whopping 50 different types of pastries on their menu. They’re also run by the same people behind Keong Saik Bakery, another contender on this list!
Speaking of their Onigiri Croissants ($7.20), they are triangular croissants with a thin strip of seaweed slapped across its exterior, made to replicate an actual onigiri. They come in savoury flavours such as Mentaiko Cheese and Scallion Sour Cream, and sweet flavours such as Taro Orh Nee and Sicilian Pistachio. But if you want to stick with the classics, they do a great French Butter Croissant ($3.80).

Lean and rich are antonyms meant to represent the two categories of bakes at Lean & Rich Bakery in UE Square. Lean bakes are made with simple ingredients such as flour, water, yeast, and salt, while Rich bakes have the addition of sugar, eggs, and butter.
In the Rich category, you can expect a remarkable Plain Croissant ($4.80), which has received widespread praise. Otherwise, they also do variations with Ham & Cheese ($7.50), Vanilla ($7), and Seed Cinnamon ($6.50), all of which are equally delicious.
