Singapore’s food scene is buzzing in the new year, with a fresh wave of new restaurants, cafes, and hawker stalls opening across the island. From affordable omakase to China-famous bubble tea, this guide to the best new restaurants in Singapore for January 2026 highlights what’s trending and worth trying this month.
1. Fei Zap Mai Laan

Fei Zap Mai Laan (肥汁米蘭), a Shanghainese chain famous for its Hong Kong-style rice noodles, has opened its first overseas branch at VivoCity mall! The brand currently has over 60 stores across China.

They’re best known for their Signature Zhajiang Broth, a spicy and tangy soup that combines minced meat, pickled mustard greens, and chilli with a collagen-rich Cantonese bone broth. You can enjoy this in the Mighty Four Bowl ($13.90+), loaded with fish roe balls, ham, wuxiang, and char siew. Another must-try is the Pickled Punch Beef Bowl ($15.90+), where a spicy and sour suan cai-based broth is topped with sliced beef, beef tendon balls, tau pok, black fungus, bean sprouts, and coriander.

2. Sushidan

If you love Japanese food as much as we do, you’ll want in on this. Sushidan, an acclaimed sushiya from Tokyo, has opened at Raffles City! This marks the brand’s first international outpost, offering sushi omakase from just $19.90++.

We tried their 7-Course Omakase ($29.90++), comprising six pieces of nigirizushi, a handroll, chawanmushi, and miso soup. The meal also came with three mini rice bowls: Chirashi Don, Aburi Salmon Don, and Anago Don. The highlights of our meal were the Aburi Engawa, or blowtorched flounder fin, and Negitoro Handroll, featuring finely minced tuna.

6. Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice

The Michelin-approved Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice has officially opened its first restaurant concept at Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Along with the usual steamed and roasted chicken rice, diners can also expect customisable rice options and an oven-baked version.

Purists can order the Hainanese Chicken Rice ($10++) or Roasted Chicken Rice ($10++), both in single-serving portions. If you’re here with a friend, consider the Quarter ($16++), Half ($25++), and Whole ($45++) chicken portions. We were impressed with the steamed rendition, which came with a gelatinous layer of fat. Other than chicken rice, there’s a small lineup of zi char dishes to choose from: Chilli Soft Shell Crab with Mantou ($23++), Golden Cereal Prawn ($19++), Hainan Curry Fish Pot ($38++) and more.

7. Menya Saku

While not exactly new—the eatery opened in July 2025—Menya Saku is worth a mention for its affordable ramen under $15. Located on the second floor of Sim Lim Square, the casual eatery is run by Chef Mamoru Kanaya, a Japanese chef who had previously worked at Buta God and Menya Kokoro.

We recommend the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen ($12), where smoky and savoury black garlic is added to pork bone broth for a deep richness. Other options include the Special Tonkotsu Ramen ($15) and Special Saku Ramen ($13), which uses a chicken-based hybrid of shio-shoyu broth.
The no-frills ramen spot seats only 24 patrons, so we recommend visiting during off-peak hours to snag a table!

8. Dragon Curry

We included Dragon Curry in our list of the top eateries in Singapore in 2025 for one simple reason: their curry rice is delicious and affordable. What’s more, the new Golden Mile Food Centre stall also accepts CDC Vouchers!

You can get a plate of their signature Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice for just $5, but we recommend the Red Beancurd Pork Belly Cutlet Curry Rice ($5.90) instead for something different. The latter features fried pork belly infused with fermented red beancurd paste for an umami kick, paired with rice, fried omelette, cabbage, and a generous dose of curry.
There was a queue when we arrived around 11:15am on a weekday, so it might be best to visit earlier or slightly past the peak lunch hour.

9. Tofu G Takashimaya

For a sweet treat without the guilt, head to Tofu G, a Korean dessert store specialising in tofu-based gelato. First located at Mandarin Gallery, the cafe has just opened its second outlet at the basement of Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

Inspired by the traditional method of grinding soybeans with a millstone, Tofu G’s gelato is said to be lighter and lower in fat compared to regular ice cream. Each scoop is priced at $8, and there are six flavours to choose from: Black Sesame, Pistachio, and Sweet Potato are popular picks.

10. Song Gye Ok The Centrepoint

ICYMI: Popular Korean grilled chicken restaurant Song Gye Ok has opened its second outlet at The Centrepoint in Orchard. You won’t go wrong with the Sgo Signature Platter ($98++), where speciality chicken is grilled over traditional charcoal, then served with a range of condiments. Other highlights include Dakgomtang (price TBD), featuring a rich collagen broth topped with roasted chicken, and Kalguksu (price TBD): Korean hand-cut noodles are submerged in slow-simmered chicken broth.
