The stall has been in business since 1975 and continues to serve up delicious fish and seafood soups to customers to this day. The current owner Ms Alice Chew, is a second-generation hawker and has been using the same recipe that has been passed down to her. She starts preparing the dishes as early as 7.30am, with the broth taking at least two hours to boil. With every sip, you can definitely taste the amount of preparation that went into making this delicious broth!

The Seafood Maggie Mee ($5) is currently an off-the-menu item, and you will have to request it from the owner as you won’t find it on the menu. How this dish came about is that the seafood soup is normally served with ee mian. However, she recently changed the brand of ee mian used and she found that it didn’t taste as nice as before with the seafood soup. Therefore, she decided to try it with maggie mee in order not to compromise the quality of the dish and it’s a good thing she did!

The seafood broth is simply amazing. It’s super flavourful, with the clam taste being prominent, yet without overpowering the other flavours. Every sip is simply an explosion of umami! The maggie is springy and soaks up all that seafood goodness from the broth. A great decision to use the maggie! Another great thing is that the prawns are already peeled, perfect for those who are too lazy to peel them, and you also won’t have to get your hands dirty! The prawn is sweet and fresh, as well as the fish and clams.

The chilli served here is really something special. It’s thicker than the usual chilli that you would normally get with fish soup and it’s a whole lot spicier. It leads you to a false sense of security at first as the spice only kicks in after a while! Not only that, but the spice also continues to linger in your mouth. Additionally, it pairs perfectly with the seafood, and you can even add it into your soup for added flavour and heat. Simply delicious and a definite must-try!
