Le Matin Patisserie opens at ION Orchard

Le Matin Patisserie, the famed online bakery by chef-owner Mohamed Al-Matin has now set up shop in ION Orchard, offering dessert lovers a new range of pastries, soft serves, and brunch delights.

The brand first shot to fame during the Circuit Breaker in 2020, when their delectable smoked cruffins, kouign amanns, and canales were all foodies could rave about on Instagram. The patisserie also operated a central kitchen at Raeburn Park, but has since shut down its doors to have all hands on deck at their swanky new outlet.

The cafe will serve brunch from 11am to 3pm, as well as dinner and desserts from 6pm to 10pm. The cakes and pastries on display will be available for order all day.

Fans of the patisserie can expect popular favourites such as the Almond Croissant ($7.50++), alongside new offerings including the Sake Lees & Macadamia, Choux Bun ($14++) and Mont Blanc ($14++).

The alcohol-infused Sake Lees Choux Bun was our personal favourite, featuring a delicate choux bun baked with a crunchy white sable and filled with light sake lees mousse. It is served atop a macadamia yuzu crunch base and topped with a dusting of silver flakes.

There’s also the Roasted Hay & Pecan Tart ($9++), comprising a buttery pecan and almond tart base filled with rich pecan frangipane, mixed with hay butter with a hint of citrus.

You can also expect an array of new brunch items, including the Black Truffle Scrambled Eggs Croissant ($34++), Seafood Pot Pie ($24++), and Crab, Caviar & Waffles ($24++).

We loved the Black Truffle Scrambled Eggs Croissant, featuring a croissant burger stacked with black truffle aioli and truffle paste. It was also topped with fluffy scrambled eggs and 8g worth of sliced back truffles!

The Seafood Pot Pie was another one of our favourites, comprising a puff pastry filled with a variety of seafood, including salmon belly, snapper, tiger prawns, green mussels, clams, and scallops. This dish was the definition of umami, and offered a creamy mouthfeel with each bite.

Another dish that garnered many compliments was the cafe’s signature Wagyu Brioche Feuilletee ($44++), which saw melt-in-the-mouth Wagyu ribeye, smoked duck fat, onion marmalade, brown butter leek, and crispy shiso leaves sandwiched between two fluffy brioche buns.
